Steampunked: Spec Ops The Line

LogoOk, so I’m not really BREAKING the rules more like bending them here.  I said I would be doing this alphabetically, and I will, but I also said I’d do about one a week and here we are one day later so you’ll forgive this little transgression.  I was looking for something to play the other day and asked Mike for his recommendation to which he told me to play through Spec Ops The Line.  I had played the demo before and really liked it but I never got around to playing the full game.  I picked this up during the last Steam holiday sale I believe but it has been sitting there ever since, today I finished Spec Ops The Line and boy what a ride it was.

Steampunked: Alien Breed 2: Assault

2013-03-03_00001I admit it… I’m weak.  I strayed from my path of Steam completion and paid the ultimate price.  But where SimCity and Origin have completely failed me it did give me some time to get back on track and complete the next game on my list.  It’s a bug hunt man in Alien Breed 2 Assault!

SimCity Impressions

logoWell today was a busy day for gaming as many high-profile releases dropped.  While I’ve been avoiding most new games in favor of clearing out my Steam library and working on other projects there was one game that caught my eye and pulled me back into the world of full priced AAA video gaming.  That game is SimCity, released on this day the fifth of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and thirteen.  I’ve been playing for nearly 5 hours now and thought I’d hit you guys with some quick impressions so far!

Steampunked: Air Conflicts: Secret Wars

BoxAnother week another game down in my continuing adventure to play through all the crap I’ve picked up in my Steam library over the years.  This week brings us back to World War II in a flight sim that I have no real idea why I even own.  I can only assume I picked this up in some kind of bundle at some point.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional flight simulator but I highly doubt I was seriously in the market for a middling budget WWII shooter any time in the past.  Let’s take a look at Air Conflicts: Secret Wars.

Steampunked: Adam’s Venture Episode 3

boxIt’s been a long slow day here and since it’s Sunday and the Lord is with me all day I figured why not just bang out this last Adam Venture episode.  Honestly I’m kind of glad to be done with these, no offense to Adam and the crew over at Vertigo Digital Entertainment but these things can best be described as inoffensive, certainly not gripping entertainment. Without further ado lets talk about the final chapter in Adam’s Venture!

Steampunked: Adam’s Venture Episode 2

BoxHere we are on the Lords day and I gotta be honest, this is probably the first Sunday I’ve EVER spent doing anything remotely educational about religion.  Adam Venture is back in his second adventure and this time he’s left the stuffy cave of Eden behind for the arid desert of King Solomons mines.  The good news here is the second episode certainly improved on the issues I had with the first game, the bad news is it’s still overall not that much better than the first.

Steampunked: Adam’s Venture Episode 1

BoxWell folks, I’ve got some good news and some bad… the bad news is that since we’re going alphabetically we are starting off this journey with Adam’s Venture and it is a trilogy so buckle in for two more of these.  The good news is the game isn’t actually terrible.  Was it good enough to win me over with it’s Judeo-Christian values? Probably not… Continue reading

Steampunked!

So our good friend Mike has decided to go off on his own with some new project about music or whatever, you can learn more about that at Project Playlist, and despite my protests to have him just post it to the site here I’m left with not much to do and a domain sitting around gathering dust.  So I’ve decided to do what any red blooded American with a website would do and steal his idea!  Only this is The Unplayables and I don’t purchase music while whacked out on ambien so my music collection is already perfection in every way.  However, what I do have a problem with is Steam.  Through years of Steam sales and poor impulse control my Steam library is telling me I’ve got 382 games in it, and frankly I was never going to play most of these things.  That’s where the site comes in! Free DLC: Special Episode: 2012 Game Of The Year Awards, Part 2

We did it! Yay!

Here is Part 2 (of 2) of The Unplayables Game of the Year award deliberations.

As we mentioned in last week’s podcast, we are doing things a little differently this year. No more tacked on categories, no more individual awards for platforms: we are just going to discuss the very best games of 2012 and pick a winner. As a special bonus feature, Part 2 will actually have a winner, as well!

What will it be? You will have to listen to find out.

Also, once again, there’s a special treat at the end of the episode for anyone who makes it through the entire thing. Remember, it’s the bitches that’ll getchas.
